hi
i was wondering about the new version when i use the old version to clean out junk files it work just fine and with this new version i had to use the ignore list editor for some files that before were not being pickup i had to ignore them because the files will not delete
the files are
C:\programfiles\agnitum\outpostfirewallpro\improve_net_report.xm~
C:\windows\system32\filt\~spy6_main.sd
C:\windows\system32\filt\~spy6_inc.sdb
C:\windows\system32\filt\main.sdb
so is this a bug or should i not worry and just have them be ignore
i am just wondering because like i said before with the old version before this version those files were not being pickup with new version they are
thanks
au 5.2 junk files
Re: au 5.2 junk files
Well, the new version does pick up some more files. But you can easily ignore them using 'Exclude Always' option.
OR
You can go to Options > Remove Junk Files > uncheck *.??~ and ~*.*
We would rather you choose the former since the second option can make 'Remove Junk Files' not list other temp files matching the pattern.

We would rather you choose the former since the second option can make 'Remove Junk Files' not list other temp files matching the pattern.

Re: au 5.2 junk files
Hi. I have the same issue. just upgraded to v5.2, and when running junk file scan and then clicking delete all, every time I get now a popup message that it cannot delete this file because it may be in use, etc. I never got these messages at all with previous versions of AU, I have been using it happily for many years. when looking at the files that it cannot delete, they appear to be names with a long list of numbers and letters and most of them are located in *\application data\Symantec folder. when I added this location into the Exclude list, then these files did not come up in the scan and thus i manged to delete the rest of the junk files. My question is - why do I get these messages, and should these files in that location be removed as junk files. also please let me know if what I did is ok.
Thanks for your prompt attention.

Re: au 5.2 junk files
The files which you were unable to delete may very well be temp files. The extentions we scan for can be seen via 'Options' > 'Remove Junk Files'. In Ace Utilities v5.2, we made a slight change in checking whether the files found are in use or not. Some times it's tricky to determine whether a file is in use or not. Only when you proceed to perform some action on the file you get the alert that it's in use. In your case, since the files are located in a particular folder, excluding that folder is the obvious choice.
