Registry Backup Files

Is it possible to rename the registry bkup files to something other than what they default to? Or is the restore pgm looking for a certain name?

Also, are the backup files in Reg 4 format (ansi) or Windows XP Reg 5 (Unicode) format? If the backup files are in different formats than the Registry itself, does'nt that cause a problem if they are restored later?

Yes, you can rename it to any other name.

The files are in ANSI format, and not unicode. Both formats will work equally well with XP, so no problems at all.

(If we use unicode, it won't work on 98/ME.)
