Did you withdraw the beta download V5.4.0.537 or is it a incorrect download URL address?

The link is active. Just a leftover 'redirection' from our previous 5.3.0 beta release period.

Re: Ace Utilities 5.4.0.537 Beta
Thanks. Have V5.4.0 beta downloaded and installed.
First bug:
In the Start menu, START>All Programs>Ace Utilities>Utilities, the icon for Registry Compactor is incorrect. It is showing the icon for Registry Cleaner instead of the rc.exe icon.

Re: Ace Utilities 5.4.0.537 Beta
The Export/Import Settings utilities under Menu>Settings did not work for (my settings were not properly restored):
Options>Miscellaneous (all the options on Miscellaneous returned to the default settings.)
Options>View>Other (the color theme was properly restored, but the individual items in "Other" returned to the default settings.)
I feel that there should be a "Export Settings completed" and a "Import Settings completed" message issued when these two items are completed.
In addition, there needs to be an automatic restart of Ace Utilities when the Import Settings is executed and completed to make such settings as the theme go active. Currently, there is nothing happening when an Import Settings is executed; therefore, the user does not know if the settings were imported or imported properly.

In the Registry Cleaner module, keyboard commands such as Ctrl and Shift do not work to permit the user to select/highlight multiple registry keys.

No new beta version to test ? Seems like it has been quite a long time since beta 1 was released.

Re: Ace Utilities 5.4.0.537 Beta
Windows 8 x64 Professional, MS Office 2013 Home and Business installed locally on computer.
AU registry cleaner detects a long list of MS Office Installer items that should be removed. These are all in the list of keys in the attached .zip file. On removing these registry keys, one or more of the removals breaks certain features in MS Office. One that is very predominant is that the "Send to Mail Recipient" right click option of Windows Explorer becomes inoperable. It issues an error that Outlook 2013 is no longer the default email program and the file attachment cannot be sent. There may be other features within Office that are broken as well...I just have not encountered them.
I have placed all of the keys in the attachment in my user ignore list of AU. I really do NOT think that any of these Installer keys should be removed because of the new update technique that Office 2013 now uses. It is automatically and frequently checking for new updates to the Office software.

Re: Ace Utilities 5.4.0.537 Beta
Referencing my post above on MS Office 2013, AU does not seem to be honoring its User2.ini list. I keep adding the MS Office 2013 keys to the list and AU keeps finding the same keys over and over.

Re: Ace Utilities 5.4.0.537 Beta
In my opinion there is a major bug in the Ignore List Editor. When a user "Removes" a key from the Ignore List, it also removes the key from the Registry. This is very dangerous because the user has no idea that the key is also being removed from the Registry. As an example, I wanted to clear out User2.ini and reload the list of ignored keys this morning to see if that would correct the fact that User2.ini is being ignored by AU. So I cleared the list; however, it removed all the keys from Registry as well. Bad, BAD!

Well, that is really strange. Checked it and did not find any such behaviour. Deleting an entry from the 'ignore list' should/will not remove it from the registry.siliconman01 wrote:In my opinion there is a major bug in the Ignore List Editor. Re: Ace Utilities 5.4.0.537 Beta
I tried it again and nothing was removed/deleted from the registry. I must have erred in my testing because items in the ignore list are not being ignored by the registry cleaner. I apparently cleaned the keys accidentally with the registry cleaner.Aneesh wrote:Well, that is really strange. Checked it and did not find any such behaviour.
