Ace Utilities Resets a LOT of things

Post by Guest » Tue Dec 07, 2004 4:27 pm

Ok, I'm very impressed with the thoroughness of the Ace Utilities package, but after running the cleanup Wizard and rebooting, I end up with double icons it the taskbar, my icons are resorted on the desktop, and IE has started checking to see if it's the default browser.

These are the most noticeable things, btu there area lot of other annoyances that occur after cleaning the system.

I'm using the latest download of AU on Win XP Pro, SP2, so has anybody else had these problems?

Ok, here's another annoyance. I'm running Office Small Bus. editiion, and when I select a message in Outlook, I get a MS Visual Basic alert:

"The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to the online help or documentation of the host application to determine how to enable macros".

I want Ace Utilities to clean the system, but dang, I don't want it to reset everything!

Can you please zip and send the folder 'My Documents\Ace Utilities Backups' to hari @ acelogix.net ? We will check the entries being removed.

Ok, will do.

I did look at the reg file, and it looks like Ace is killin goff all the recent file/project settings for Visual Studio.Net - I wouldn't suggest messing with a developer's IDE.

Sending the email now!

I did take a quick look, but there are only recent history entries in it. Removing that won't cause a problem other than the recently used project history being deleted.

Are you sure you don't want this to be deleted ?
