Recycle Bin wiping in Ace Utilities!

Post by saad » Sun Jan 02, 2011 2:21 pm

Recycle Bin wiping was running, I deleted another file and sent to Recycle Bin. Your program didn't wipe that file. It just removed the file from Recycle Bin. I was able to locate that file intact in Recycle Bin by using a file recovery program.

I have tried another history cleaning program that does not remove the file from Recycle Bin the one was sent after Recycle Bin wiping is started. To wipe that file from Recycle Bin there is need to run that program again.

I feel you should also adopt this feature in next release of Ace Utilities.

Thank you.

Yes, I do, Robert. We know that an update and a major revision upgrade are long over due. AU v5.2.5 testing phase is underway and been busy with that.

Glad to hear it, sir. I was just about to send out the troops to see if you were okay. ;)

Any idea how far off in the future we can expect something? I use your program for all of my recycle bin wiping. If it isn't deleting the stuff properly, kind if makes it a moot point to use it for that.
Thank you,
Robert

The recycle bin wipe process is secure. As you mentioned, to securely shred a file send to the bin while the wiping process is running the user needs to perform a second wipe pass. :--|

Ah, ok, then I am okay. I never do anything else when I am wiping files. Will that be fixed in the next version or is it by design?
Thank you,
Robert

Right now, the algorithm logic does not account for 'files sent once wipe process starts'. We'll check the feasibility of doing so. Tx.
