Programs not working after install

Post by arman » Tue Nov 16, 2004 3:55 am

After installing a trial version of Ace Utilities, I was prompted to perform a restore or backup (I think it was a restore). There were three options. I kept the default and I was then prompted to select a date. I tried to select the current date (11/15/04), but utility wouldn't let me so I picked the next possible date about two weeks prior (11/04/04).

After the restore and a system restart. I no longer have icons on my desktop (ex. Palm) for programs installed after 11/4. How can I revert my system back to the point just before I installed Ace Utilities? Thanks a bunch. -Steve

I don't see how you could have done that! Because when you went through the process of making a restore point you were using Windows and not Ace Utilities to create the restore point. Also, I tried what you said and didn't have a problem at all choosing the present date.

I just put the 30 day Ace Demo on a newer XP machine last night..
The System Restore box came up and requested to make a restore point..

It made one without a hitch..
This is the first time I haVE noticed the sysres box when installing Ace..
but ,as I understand it, XP System Restore should make an "RP"(restore point) hen you install a program that makes System file changes..

On the one I was workin on;After choosing to "Create A Restore Point" it ask me to
"NAME" the RP ,being made..If you are choosing a DATE I believe that is done when RESTORING a "Point..

Is that right Cal?
