Clean System Registry (AU 5.1) deletes valid/s entry/ies

Post by FAM07 » Sun Feb 14, 2010 1:02 am

Hello, I have updated Microsoft IntelliType Pro with the latest version (downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=es) and now, after Clean System Registry (Thorought scanning method) is used, I can not open the Microsoft IntelliType Pro 7.0, showing an error and an indication of soft re-installation to solve the problem.

I have to re-install Microsoft IntelliType Pro 7.0 to solve the problem.

Undoubtely Clean System Registry is deleting any associated entry or group of entries. Below is the report of Clean System Registry after the Microsoft IntelliType Pro was re-installed and is working.

What do I do in this situation? Do you have any fix to prevent this issue?

(Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit)

Thanks

Re: Clean System Registry (AU 5.1) deletes valid/s entry/ies

Post by Aneesh » Sun Feb 14, 2010 10:17 am

Removing a few entries from the list could be the reason:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\6FA7C0586737D4646AC98E14E97CCA7A\InstallProperties
InstallSource: C:\f5d0e055d6a80c79b7e349c76e6d\itype\setup64\

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{850C7AF6-7376-464D-A69C-E8419EC7ACA7}
InstallSource: C:\f5d0e055d6a80c79b7e349c76e6d\itype\setup64\

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Application\IntelliType Pro
EventMessageFile: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliType Pro\dw15.exe"

To confirm this, you can run the registry scan > uncheck the entries given above > delete the rest. Afterwards, check if the intellitype pro function is impaired.

By default design of 'Clean System Registry' tool, certain invalid entries cannot be ignored when scanning. The first two entries written above are like that. :-\ They cannot be ignored at the moment.

A few workarounds:
* You can make the path shown in the 'install source' valid so that registry scan does not pick this up.
* You can uncheck the 'SYSTEM ENTRIES' entry in the 'Scan Options' list to the right. This way the scanner won't check certain areas of the registry including the ones with the first two entries
* Manually deselect the above entries every time you scan. :-\

Try this.

Go to Ace Utilities installation folder > Data > Ignore_Reg. Put the attached file here. Now start Ace Utilities, go to Options > Clean System Registry > Ignore list manager > uncheck 'Use ignore list intelligently' > Ok.

Run 'Clean System Registry' and see if the problem still exists.

Aneesh, before your second post I tried with the Ignore List Editor. I wrote "IntelliType" and the problem was solved.

The only entry detected by Clean System Registry tool as invalid is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Application\IntelliType Pro
EventMessageFile"C:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliType Pro\dw15.exe"
[Invalid Path: 'Data' Column]

because the other two keys you indicated were deleted and the program Microsoft IntelliType Pro worked ok.

Although this was an effective method, I would like not to use the Ignore List. Will this issue be fixed by the new version of AU?

Thank you for the quick support.

We make additions from time to time to the built-in list when new versions are created. We can update this in the next version. The 'ignore-list' functionality is provided precisely for this kind of situations. We cannot predict every possible entry that could cause a problem in a particular user pc. Here, the user can easily add their own entries to the list.

HI

I have been using Ace Utilities for some time now and it is a great program. Recently I intalled the Ace Utilties upgrade on my Windows 7 64 bit PC and, after running registry cleaner, get the following eror:
Bluetooth Software License File not found

I have successfully reinstalled the Bluetooth Driver from the backup driver disk supplied with my PC. However, each time I run registry cleaner it removes the license file and I have to reinstall the drivers. I am running an Asus PC and the maker of the Bluetooth software is widcomm. I tried entering widcomm bluetooth driver in the ignore list editor and registry cleaner continues to delete this license file.
Thanks for any suggestions

Can you create a report of all the entries found during 'Clean System Registry' scan and send us? We'll look into it.

To create a report: After the scan is complete, right-click in the list and choose 'Report...'. You can either attach the file in your next post or send it to support @ acelogix.com.

After you experienced the problem, if you've 'undo-ed' the changes made by restoring the deleted entries:
Run 'Clean System Registry' and after the scan is finished make a 'report file' of the entries shown. To create a report: After the scan is complete, right-click in the list and choose 'Report...'

If you've not restored the deleted entries:
Find the 'undo file' created for the scan which first caused this problem (Undo files are created with the names which shows the date and time of the scan).

Please send the file to Acelogix Support email, or attach it in this thread in your next post, or send it to me as a pm. We'll check the entries and try to find out the one needed to be excluded.

Hi,
I want to comment that the actual version of AU deletes the following key related to Microsoft Outlook 2007 which produce an open error of that software.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wid\

It must be included it in the Ignore List Editor to avoid the inconvenient.

The observation of this situation was on Windows XP Professional.

I have just installed Ace Util on W7 64-bit operation system. After running wizard I too got "Bluetooth License not found" message. To rid myself from it I did a system restore. I would like to use the Ace Util without this error.

Start Ace Utilities. Instead of running the 'Wizard, run 'Clean System Registry'. Let it finish the scan. Now cancel the box prompting the delete action. Go through the list and try to find out which entry is causing the trouble. Once you spot it, right-click on that entry, choose 'Highlighted item(s) > Exclude always (never find again)' option. This will add the entry/entries in question to the 'ignore list'. If you're having trouble finding the troublesome entry, send us the 'report file' of the list. To create a report, right-click in the list and choose 'Report...' option. Save the file and email us, or attach it with your post. We'll check it for you.
