Re: Ace Utilities v5.2 beta

Just one question

Option - Miscellaneous (all options are unchecked by me, i am pointing at show taskbar messages)

Start - AU - Utilites - 1 click cleanup (with the empty reclycle bin check)

and i get pop out warning in lower right corner of the screen:

"Warning you will not be able to restore any file ......etc"

Is that normal behaviour because show taskbar messages as well as all options in micellaneous are unchecked by me

Cheers!

1. Would be nice to have a shortcut link to RegBak in the Start Menu under Ace Utilities>Utilities.

2. Personally I feel that "Other available hives" should be checked by default in RegBak.

3. I also feel that "Show Progress" should be the default and eliminate the Show Progress button in RegBak
We'll check it, Tx.

It's by default design; to pass some information to the user (in this case, a friendly warning) before executing some selected actions.

nh.....it seems that i have problem with dissapearing icons (blank icons)that i send you in e-mail.

It seems that has something to do with icon cache maybe, dont know.

Some other icon from some other program has blank icon now(that program is installed a month ago.

Dont know

You can try rebuilding the iconcache. Terminate the 'explorer.exe' process, then start a command console window, go to your profile folder (\AppData\Local,) delete the 'iconcache.db' file, and restart 'explorer.exe'. Or, you can go to your profile folder, find and delete iconcache.db and restart Windows. This may do some good. :-\

Aneesh, thank you very very much, it works like a charm now.

I have Ace Utilites icons now, and some other programs icons.

Dont have a blank issue any more

My mistake is that i mess up with delete icon cache on classic way, find and delete (without killing explorer.exe way)

Because of this mistake, every program that installed, after delete of icon cache, have a blank icon.

There is one of my posts http://acelogix.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3362

You said that you will try to add icon cache to junk.

Maybe that is not such a good move (my bad suggestion).

Better to leave it alone, or you will have blank icons problem.

Thank you for everything.

.........

When we can expect AU 5.2 final version to be released?

Cheers!

Do I have to uninstall the regular version before installing this beta?

No, you can install beta on top of the existing installation. You 'may' have to clean the saved cookies from previous versions for the current Cookie Manager to work properly. This is not a requisite for all users.

Thanks, Aneesh

I uninstalled the old version and rebooted anyhow.

Just like to say that it is so nice to see a refresh of one of my favorite programs, Ace Utilites.
It's been a long time.

How long do you think before the full release will be available?

AU is looking good :)

First Peek:

WoooW!!!!

I like GUI changes.

Thank you so much for AU intergrator theme, new icons, new look, specially pit black theme.

Now it look really like Win7 app.

Everything works perfect for me:-)

Little masterpiece:-)

Great work!

Suggestions:

1.Section - Erase your history, Registry Defrag, Wipe Deleted Data, Reg Backup (affect with theme colors)

2.Toolbar - Menu, Options, Wizard, Restore (affect with theme colors)

3. add windows update backup files to junk C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download
(if you think that those files are better not to touch, than please add it to remove junk files folder (exclude) by default.
and than who wants to mess with that, just need to uncheck.

Cheers!

Umm, these changes may have to wait till the next version or so. There's been a lot of changes from v5.1 to v5.2 and this included a lot of testing. More changes mean more delay in release. :-\
