Hi there,
I'm on win7 7260 using ace utilities 5.1 beta
knowing i've many duplicate files i ran duplicates files finder and it took couple of hours to find all the results.
first I set it to show 500 dups per page. it was like 80 pages, i started deleting. on 4th page it crashed.
then i set it to show 5000 dups per page maybe 1 click removal would do the job, it crashed. then 1000 then crashed again
well i know its unusual to have so many duplicates, i don't know how it compares the files and queries them, but it'd be nice if it didn't crash
so anyways i've few features requests about this.
1. can the results be saved to be loaded at another time?
2. can the highlighted results, from right click menu, be selected?
3. can au choose all the duplicate files except 1 by itself? I've to select "choose one in each" then "invert selection" to accomplish this. (i know its usefull as well but still)
4. can it not crash please I used some other software to find duplicates the memory usage goes up to like 700mb whereas au is around 60, which is pretty good. its faster than the other software that i used (even using the crc32 or md5) some other software uses sql to manage the list of duplicates. i dunno how au does it but can it be enhanched to withstand many duplicates.
Thanks!

Re: duplucate file finder crashes + feature request
'Find duplicate files' tool, by now, is stable and shouldn't have crashed. We'll check it. Regarding the suggestions you made, we'll check how much feasible it is to implement them and proceed accordingly. Thank you for trying out Ace Utilities v5.1.

Re: duplucate file finder crashes + feature request
well okay but now I ran the duplicate check again, while loading page 4 it crashed. i dunno what's with page 4.. is there a command line switch or something to save dump so I can send it to you guys or something of sort?
to clarify it seems i've about 60.000 duplicate files.. all image files (jpg, jpeg, jp2, png, gif, bmp)
under 1 mb is checked as well.
btw it might be due to windows 7. i'm just trying to find out what the problem is...
Thanks

Re: duplucate file finder crashes + feature request
I just checked v5.1 in Windows 7 Build 7100 [Duplicate files groups:- 2900+, groups per page:- 25/250/450/500]. The tool didn't crash :-\
I'll run some more tests and see how it goes.

Re: duplucate file finder crashes + feature request
hmm ok some spam message just came but I'm here so i'll write more on the subject
I've finally deleted the duplicates and found out that its not about page 4 or any page the crash occurs when i right click on duplicate file finder results window while its loading the results.
so if I wait couple more seconds for it to load the results and then right click, there is no problem.
tried this multiple times, each time when i didn't wait long it crashed.. anyways got through lots of duplicates thanks au.

Re: duplucate file finder crashes + feature request
It's good to know that 'Find duplicate files' is not crashing mysteriously. Sometimes, when processing a large number of entries that are to be displayed, some of the tools may appear to have hung midway if you click on it. Besides, most of the tools in Ace Utilities have been modified to a point where a crash occurs only rarely.
