Hmmm...I am wondering if this problem is being caused by the hard drive configuration which has 75 gbytes allocated for the C drive and 35 gbytes of free space (unallocated). Just a thought.

Hi,

Please download the file au.zip using http://www.acelogix.com/downloads/temp/au.zip . Unzip it. It contains au.exe file. Copy this file, go to the folder where Ace Utilities is installed, rename the au.exe file in that folder and put the new file in there. Now, start Ace Utilities as you normally would, from desktop/start menu/etc., and run the 'Remove Junk Files' tool. If it gets stuck, terminate Ace Utilities using Windows Task Manager. Now go to the C: drive. You will find a file named "log_aceutilities.txt". Send that file to the Support email.

The test AU.exe also locks up during the junk scan. I have emailed the log into support.

I have resolved this problem on my system.

I allocated the 35 gbyte unallocated partition on the hard drive as the D partition and junk file scan/removal now works properly.

This does point to a problem in AU.exe concerning unallocated partitions on a specific hard drive, however.

Cheers!

I Use Windows XP SP3 x86, i found couple of possible errors.

1. Clean System Registry (found about 100 errors), cannot delete this errors in one time, at least five times in row.

2. Fix Invalid Shortcuts (rename lots of pictures, copy them to another places - example), run scan, popout appears saying:
"Cannot Delete Example:Cannot Find The Specified File
Make Sure You Specify The Correct Path And File Name"

Cannot fix invalid shortcuts this in one time, at least ten times in row.(Found About 30 invalid shortcuts)

3. Cannot add content of prefetch folder in remove junk file, junk file types, wildcards doesent work C:\Windows\Prefetch\*/S

4. Please integrate Registry Defrag Compactor in Ace Utilities. It make no sense to install Registry Defrag Compactor after
instaling ace utilities,to have shortcut in ace utilities, better to built it into program.

5. Please integrate some important windows content shorcuts in ace utilites(windows defragment, msconfig, sysinfo,etc...)

6. Please add one click system clanup shortcut in start-all programs-system tuneup- one click system clanup. Its better way to
access the program.

5. Please secure next version of Ace Utilities with new registry keys or with some kind of protection, please erase
Pauline Clark and registration key for that name. The "pirate" sites use that name with your software.

That's a strange situation indeed.

* Sometimes, when you delete a particular entry from the registry, a related entry which was valid till then, due to the existence of the now-deleted entry, would now become invalid. So, you may have to run the 'clean system registry' tool more than once to get all the invalid entries.

* If you want to exclude an entire folder, then you could just go to 'Options' > 'Remove Junk Files' > 'Exclude', click 'Add' button, browse and show the folder you want to exclude.

* Integrating Registry Compactor with Ace Utilities is being considered.

Aneesh,

Any idea when the release will be? It should be very close.
Thank you,
Robert

Yes, it is. Eventhough I wrote a time period a week or two back, a few last minute issues cropped up and hence the delay.

The latest version for download is version 5. The site hasn't been changed to reflect the new version yet, but the download is there.
Thank you,
Robert
