STU and Windows Live Messenger
Why is that when I have finished a junk and registry clean + erase history session, when I then try to start WLM, the wlm install prosess begins? It complains about the wlm.msi is missing and the install cannot finish. I click cancel and wlm starts like it should.
I mean, it works, but it is pretty annoying that this happens every time after I have used STU.

Re: STU and Windows Live Messenger
We have Windows Live Messenger installed on one of our PCs. But we've not encountered such a problem yet. We tried to simulate the problem last night and nothing happened. We'll run some more checks later today. Meanwhile, could you use the 'Report' option on 'Remove Junk Files' and 'Clean System Registry' to create a log of the invalid junk/registry entries shown before deleting them, zip the logs and attach it with your next post or send it to support {at} acelogix.com?

Re: STU and Windows Live Messenger
If I decide to install STU again(have uninstalled it), I can do that.
I can say that I selected all wildcards to be deleted in junk file options, so I suspect I have deleted a "install.log file.

Ok, gave it a go and did some tests. It is the reg cleaner that messes up Live Messenger(latest version on XP pro SP3)
I am attaching the report from the reg clean. I did not change any option within the reg clean, I left it all default.

Try this and see if it helps. Create a file, say, WLM.dat, copy-paste the lines shown inside the code box, go to the System TuneUp installation folder, and save the file in \ignorelist\Reg\ folder.
Code: Select all
[settings]
index=0 1
[data]
0=\Messenger\
1=\MessengerService\

Re: STU and Windows Live Messenger
A minor update for System TuneUp which resolves the recent issues including support for Firefox 3 has been released. This updates may not be visible via the 'Check for Updates' option from System TuneUp. So all users are requested to download the update from the website 'download' page.
