I've never had any problem like this before, but just recently my antivirus (Avast antivirus) has started detecting the registry compactor installer as a trogan. I'm having trouble uploading screenshots right now but basically the alert says "Malware name: Win32: Trojan-gen {other}" "Malware type: virus/worm" and the latest virus definitions from them is "VPS version: 080114-0, 1/14/2008".
I'm assuming this is just a false positive within the newest definitions because none of them have ever detected this before. I'll try to send feedback to avast myself but I just thought I'd let you guys know as well. By the way its detecting both rc.exe and rc for ace utilities as viruses.

I emailed them yesterday and received a quick response. The issue is now resolved with the newest virus definitions. Gotta love when things are that easy
