Hi,

'Wipe deleted file data' tool creates temp files on your harddisk to fill the free space on your disk. So the freespace on your disk decreases while it is operating.
As you know, System Restore needs disk space to create restore points. Since freespace is not available, System Restore purges previous restore points to make space.

All disk wiping tools work this way. But if you are lucky, you may not lose any restore points.

if i have 80 gb drive of wich only 30gb are being used, would this be enough free space to ensure not losing Restore Points?

thanks

Hi
Yes, you have more than enough free space to have the max amount of restore points!

As you know though, you are the one to allocate how much drive space is given to "System Restore"! And Windows XP allows you to allocate a max of 7641MB of free space to make system "Restore Points" the less free space you allocate the less "Restore Points"!
