Ace v3.3

Post by Doffy90 » Sat May 12, 2007 6:43 pm

I find it very disturbing that you guys actually added spyware to this program. By installing the new version a new start up process is revealed as startup NSIS.Library.RegTool.v2

I've read about this and everyone says that this start up is uneeded so Im really dissapointed that you guys would actually try to infect us with something.

It is not a spyware, but a module that is required for the installation process of Ace Utilities. It has been there for the past few versions, not just the latest v3.3. This startup process will be run only once, i.e., upon the next reboot after the Ace Utilities installation. Ace Utilities does NOT have any kind of spywares bundled with it.

The entry is related to the Nullsoft Installer (http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Main_Page).

It is used to register DLLs at reboot if registering failed during installation. NSIS is also used by other programs, including Winamp. Refer to the NSIS dicussion section in Winamp.com forums, if interested.
