strange...

Post by FatDave » Thu Nov 24, 2005 1:55 pm

hi there,

same error-reporting 'SideBySide' messages here, running xp pro sp1 and au 3 v. 4038. tried downloading the given runtimes dll's from yr. server, but both 0 (sero) size with/out dl-manager !
finally got 'vcredist_x86.exe' from ms-dl-site directly (it's a big > 8 mb-file) and installed. no changes- still some 10 errors in reporting upon each au startup. re-installed au - no impact.
'winstaller_x86.exe' couldn't be found on the net- not even in ms-world...
so what to do ???
cheers, schroeder :? :?

Thanks, works fine now.
Will we always need the fix though ? Or can we remove it when its addressed in the program itself ?

Microsoft will be releasing the runtimes soon. So no need to keep the files for the future.

event viewer

Post by AndrewA » Thu Feb 02, 2006 7:00 am

I happened to be looking in my event viewer for some slow shutdown issues. Ran into the sidebyside event id 59 and 32. (id #32 referred to Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC could not be found and Last Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system), whereas 59 referred to Ace.

I installed the file you mentioned in this sticky which took care of it. Would you tell me a little bit about this issue? I can find nothing on the net search at all. I'm trying to understand the sidebyside issue and what it means for my own knowledge and learning experience.

Thanks from a registered user,
Keith

This now seems to conflict with the latest Quicktime 7.13. Its Apple Software Update causes sidebyside errors Event ID 58 and 59 and 61.
On closer inspection it appears its caused by the installation of vcredist_x86.exe .

Any help to resolve this would be great. Thanks.

By the way this is what i found.

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide\PatchedComponents\

File or directory "C:\WINDOWS\winsxs\x86_Microsoft.VC80" does not exist

:(
