Small display glitch

Post by augieboo » Thu Nov 03, 2005 8:07 am

1. In "Auto-start Manager" window, user listbox has slightly different background color (gray) than the rest toolbar. Same happens with toolbar search editbox in "Uninstall Manager".

2. The icons next to these two controls, display "CTRL-S" in a mouse hover tooltip. I think that this shortcut has no meaning now.

Thanks

Hi Inray, thanks for your reporting of this GUI error, I'm pretty sure Hari is aware of this already though, and I've thoroughly checked Ace Utilities v 3.0.0 and I think you'll find that it's on every single device on the program.

Further to your discovery of the displaying of the CTRL-S message, I can't personally see it. Maybe your help files haven't updated along with the installation of this version. Please completely uninstall any previous versions of Ace Utilities, and then reinstall after making sure that there are absolutely no traces left on your system.

Hi Inray,

I've already fixed it, and will upload it this week. I recompiled the app with VS2005, and there were some issues. That caused the delay.

Hari,
I tried new beta and everything looks fine, except the word "dummy" which displayed in status bar when mouse cursor is over user icon in "Autostart manager" or search icon in "Uninstall Manager".

Installation error with Beta

Post by billybob » Mon Nov 07, 2005 11:37 am

The new Beta doesn't seem to be working very well for me. When I install the application and try to run the au.exe file, I receive this error message, which evidentially prevents me from opening it:

Unable to execute file:
C:\Program Files\Ace Utilities\au.exe

CreateProcess failed; code 14001.
This application has failed to because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Obviously I've tried reinstalling, completely removing the old beta, rebooting my system, etc etc. And I'm always getting this error message.

Hmm that's weird, I don't get this error message.

XP Pro SP2

Btw I also have .NET 2.0 and vs2005 installed. I suspect that's why AU run here, without any errors.
Hari, have you switched off the /clr option in VC++? It looks that vs2005 emits MSIL into unmanaged executables.

Inray,

I've found the issue, it's related to WinSxS. I have to distribute Microsoft.VC80.CRT.manifest to make the exe load the runtime from the application folder. Otherwise, it is not loaded even if it is in the app folder.

So do you like VS2005 ? Except for the slow Intellisense, I like it.

I never been a big fan of VS although MS C/C++ was always my primary development tool. However this new version is absolutely marvelous.
