Freeze when using compactor
Freeze when using compactor
I've been tring to defrag my registry via third party software with out success. I thought I would try your product and find all working well with the exception of the defrag / compactor. With in a few seconds of the program begining it freezes at "analizing Hive 3 of 9 software..." This happens with the other software Ive been using. If I have a corrupt file in software.log, will your product be able to find it, do you have any idea why this is happeining. I will be purchasing your product when my trial is over and would love to use this feature as well.

You must have lot of programs installed on your PC.
It will definitely take some time to scan/compact your Registry.

This may not help but it should'nt hurt either..You can change back if it shows no promise with your problem;
If you can access the BIOS;
Disable the "Power Management"ACPIinterface..
Should be a tab or line for this..Usually 3 or 4 choices:
eg.)"Max Power","Max Savings",Customized","DISABLED"-for instance.
Wording may vary..
Disable it.
Save settings and Exit the BIOS...
re-start Try running the Ace Utilities....
If no difference go back to the BIOS and change back...
*Did you just up to the SP2?

Yes I have alot of programs, most will not be installed againg if I need to reformat drive. A bit of a video editing junky
LED is off, hard drive is not active. Processor load is heavy.
Tried virus scanning again-lock up during process. Scanned separate files known to be hit by viruses-OK. Seems any accessive load placed on processor it locks up. I keep my computer case open with 10" fan blowing on it. Thought it could be a heat issue.
SP2 was installed when first offered by microsoft
I'll try changing BIOS setting and see if there is any difference.

Task Manager gives you a quick view of how each application, application component, or system process is using CPU and memory resources, as well as a summary of overall CPU and memory usage.
To run Task Manager, right-click the toolbar, and then click Task Manager. For more information on using Task Manager, see Task Manager Help
