IGNORE LIST PROBLEM

Post by bobbyq » Thu Mar 17, 2005 5:11 pm

When I run the registry cleaner, it finds two items that, if I delete them, it crashes the media center portion of my software. (Specifically the HP Image Zone portion).
When I highlight these items and right click to add to ignore list or "never find again", it keeps finding them again.
I can tell AU not to look in the HKEY Users and HKEY Current User portions of the registry, but I prefer not to do that.
Any thoughts on why the right click function isn't working, or other ways to get reg cleaner to ignore them?

It's working correctly for me.

After you add the entries to the 'Exclude' list, go to the folder where AU is installed. Then navigate to Data -> Ignore_Reg. Find the file named 'User.ini'. Open it in Windows Notepad and see if the entries you have asked AU Registry Cleaner tool to ignore are written there or not.

Thanks for the quick response.
The two keys do show up in the user.ini file.
But reg cleaner continues to pick them up.
What next?

Can you please list the two keys here ? I can comment only after taking a look at the keys.

Here are the two keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\MRU\PicturesMRU\MRU #3 Path

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1479405407-3194477352-738541619-1008\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\MRU\PicturesMRU\MRU #3 Path

Ace does not allow these keys to be ignored, as it is an MRU entry. Can you please explain why you want these to be deleted ? Do you see any error message when you open Media Center ?

Clearing MRU entries of a program doesn't crash it, as far as I know. :?

I don't necessarily want to delete these entries.
I just don't want AU to continue to find them during reg clean.
When I have deleted them, a portion of "media center" does not function.
I have also noted during junk file clean, AU is picking up a file in the temp folder named IadHide5.dll. When I delete it, it keeps coming back.
The settings don't show AU should be looking for any "dll" files.
Any thoughts?

I see no error messages when I open media center as long as I have not deleted those two entries.

All files in 'Temp' folder are deleted irrespective of its extension. File filtering doesn't apply here. After all, files created in 'Temp' folder are for temporary purposes.

Actually I was mistaken. AU finds the dll file in the temp folder, but it will not delete it.

On another note, I have purchased the AU product, and from what I understand, I should be able to download the reg compactor and it will accept the key I got from AU.
When I give it the key, it's telling me that it's invalid. Is there a seperate key I need for reg compactor?

Registered users of AU can download Regcompactor from

http://acelogix.fileburst.com/rc_for_au.exe

Just install it, no need for a Key.

IadHide5.dll is part of the Backweb application, which is generally related
to autoupdating software. Could be harmless or harmful depending
on host application. If you have an HP printer or F-Secure Antivirus, you'll find Backweb on your system.
It cannot be deleted by Ace, as the file is locked by the program using it. There is no need to delete the file.

Thanks for the info.
But can I get AU to ignore this dll file during file clean.
It refuses to ignore this file the same as those two keys in reg clean.
