I think ACE Utilities is GREAT, I’ve recommended it to all my work colleagues and friends. Many of them are planning on purchasing it after the free trail.
What does the registry compactor offer that other registry defragmenters do not?
I really need a registry defragmenter

Well, if you've already purchased Ace Utilities then the RegCompactor is FREE! After you run the compactor you will be able to see the difference in KB how much dead-space that has been taken out of the registry, which will make you PC boot faster and run smoother. It works on all OS and will do a great job on Win XP in particular!
Also,
1. Repair defects by building a fresh registry
2. Remove fragmentation with a linear and sequential registry
3. Compact registry by removing gaps and unused space
4. Improve system performance due to faster registry load/read
5. Protect privacy by erasing previously deleted registry cells

As Cal said, you don't have to buy Registry Compactor if you buy AU.
What does the registry compactor offer that other registry defragmenters do not?
Well, actually all Registry compactors are the same, they all compress to the same size. But some run on 98 only and some on NT only. RC will run on 98/ME/2K/XP/2003.

Don't I need a registration key or something.

No, you don't need a registration key just install it and it will work under the same key that Ace Utilities does.
