I found this neat program from "WebGrid". So far I think it's just GR8.

I'm running Windows ME 512 MB of ram, I have tweak'd the setting on the "Optimizer" tab and left prioity to "Idle".

On the "Start up" tab, It's set to load at windows is started. Below this is

:?: "Optimize memory at program start up. (specify) This box is currently unchecked and the slide bar is at 4.00 MB

Could somebody please explain this facility and what if it is checked should it be set to.

Regards

Hi

This tell FRO to free up ram when it is run. That is, if it is set to run at system bootup, it will free memory at startup. The amount of memory to be freed is set with the slide bar

Yes, but what I meant is FRO frees up memory when it starts. If someone does not want FRO to start with Windows, he can open it later, and FRO will free memory then.

Jeremy of Many wrote:RAM optimizing software is [garbage]. Windows XP manages memory better than any "optimizing" software. All the software does is steal the mrmory away from the programs to make it look like you have regained RAM and still have all your programs running perfectly. If you start maximizing windows and clicking menus within them, you will notice that the memory was simply taken away from your programs and put back in the "Free Memory" portion again. That's crap.
