I am using a trial version of Ace Utilities Duplicate File Finder. I have 2 laptops, one uses Windows Vista and the other uses Windows XP. I also have 2 external hard drives (one happens to be Maxtor product, the other is Western Digital). I would like to know if it is possible to set up this single program to determine the dulicate files that exist within these 4 hard drives?? I am particularly interested in .jpg, .raw, .mp3 and.ogg files.
Thanks

First, you have to create a network connection between the two laptops. After that, from one laptop, run the 'Map Network drive' tool of Windows (you can find it in the 'Tools' menu of the 'Windows Explorer') and follow the on-screen instructions to make the drives of the other laptop available to you. Connect the two external drives to the laptops. Then, run Ace Utilities and if you have done everything right, the partitions in all the 4 drives should be available to you for scanning.

Note: Be careful of what you delete as the two laptops will surely contain many essential system files of the same name, size and CRC. Make sure you have set the proper file extension filters, in your case .mp3, .jpg etc.

Thanks for you help!. I have creatd a network connection between the two laptops (I think)--Both by XP laptop and my Vista Laptop function wirelessless witin my home from the same wireless router.
Now, I have gotten to the point where I have the "Map Network Drive" window on my screen. You suggest I "follow the on-screen instructions," but what it states is "specify the drive letter for the connection and the folder that you want to connect to," I am offered a choice of drives (for example "z") and and a choice of folder (example \\server\share), or an opportunity to browse, but only the laptop I am working on shows up. I believe this is very basic stuff, but I am stuck.
Can you help? ? Thanks.
