ActiveX & Com Scan and remove safe?

I have recently installed Registry Cleaner. In "Select the options to scan" I notice that the "ActiveX & Com" is not automatically checked. Does this mean that it is best not to scan and remove automatically without checking each individual entry?
As a registry novice I would probably not know what to accept/delete anyway.
I have scanned and deleted the other marked items successfully.
(WinXP sp2)
Thanks

Some options are left unselected by default. These are a bit advanced options than the rest, and in some cases 'may' cause problems for some users. This doesn't mean they are not safe to select for scanning. I've been using the registry cleaner with all its options enabled. So far, I've not encountered any problems. But, different users use/install different programs and we cannot safely predict the side-effects, if any, that may occur during cleaning. Anyway, if you encounter any problem, just merge the previous undo file generated by the registry cleaner.

I have also been wondering why ActiveX & COM is not selected by default.

Just to be on the safe side.
Note, Ace is used by a lot of users, and unlike others, we have to take into account the novice users.
In some rare cases, cleaning activex can affect some poorly written
program . Experts would know how to ignore the corresponding entry or reinstall the software if needed.

OK. Thanks Hari.
So I can assume that it is usually safe to select ActiveX & COM.
I will try.
