Hi, folks!!

I'm enormously interested in getting the Ace Utilities package... however, I'm a little on the " chicken " side, as I've only had a PC for a little over a year.

Upon viewing the Ace Utilities website, it sounds like something good to have... I had no idea that there was all this " dangly-stuff " that can be left over in one's PC. Especially the revelation on " deleted " eek-mail... often wondered where they went, as they never show up in the trash-bit to be deleted.

Also, the examples of the " HKEY " thingamabobs... cripes... it all looks like Martian to me!!! I'm scared stiff I would off something that is needed to make a program go smoothly. So, how can I learn to look at these and be sure what I selected for the high jump really IS a left-over dribble, and not something that needs to be there??

The main reasons for my concerns is that I share this PC with my flatmate... and he would be ENORMOUSLY unimpressed if I conked the system by trying to be smarter than I am and tidy it up of all the afore-mentioned effluvia that slowly builds up.

I'm seriously thinking of getting Ace Utilities, but am worried that if I get a bad case of " deer-in-the-headlights " going on, I'll spend more time weeping in frustration rather than keeping the PC running at its peak!!!

Thanks to anyone who has any help / comments... if you think I'm too paranoid to get this program, PLEASE be frank and let me know. I'd rather go without than drive not only myself, but the good people on the forums here crazy with persistent requests for help and advice.

BillBooth, I understand your plight but rest easy Ace Utilities is a very, very safe program to use. It's for "Experts" and "Novices" alike. Anything that Ace Utilities finds during Registry, Junk Files, and Duplicate Files (I wouldn't advise you use the dup file finder unless you really KNOW what you're doing) scans that you delete can be easily "Restored"! Also, if that's not enough to convince you, you can always backup your hard drive or use "System Restore" in Windows XP to make a restore point, so if anything goes wrong (Which it won't) you can restore your PC back to the previous state. Also, you can try it for 30 days FREE!

Basically Ace does 75-80% of a combination of what the very best free apps can do, plus about 10% that they can't, and automates things that are tedious. The app is very well (and safely) coded. Hari does a very nice job. You'll like th app. I do.

I can tell you this about Ace Utilities , if you can read and press a button , you can have a Quality Utilities Program in which to clean you computer and the peace of mind of knowing your Computer is Operating at Top Condition.
