program won't open

Recently I upgraded to Vista Ultimate. Everything was running fine; no problems. Then a couple of days ago two of my programs stopped working. The two programs are: Ace Utilities & DVD Shrink. Weird thing is, they worked for about a week and then just stopped working. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, but they still won't open. Also, no process ever shows up for them in task manager. I've tried the options of Running as Administrator (although i am the administrator) & running in compatibility mode.

All my other programs work just fine. No problems at all. Anyone have any idea what could be causing the problem? Thanks for the help.

p.s. only thing i can think of that i updated is the firmware of my DVD burner. i don't see how that would affect anything though.

I got it working again. Vista's Date Execution Prevention was preventing the program from opening because it felt it was a threat to the system. So I added the program to the safe list. :)
