I've been using Ace utilities on my windows xp machine for years.
Recently I bought a new laptop with Windows 7.
I installed ace utilities and after doing a scan AU found over 500 errors in the registry.
running a scan of the registry with CCleaner, it only found 17 errors.
I'm concerned that Ace Utilities registry cleaner may not be safe for Windows 7.
Thanks
Is the AU registry cleaner compatable with Windows 7
Re: Is the AU registry cleaner compatable with Windows 7
Using AU on 7 Ultimate, 32bit almost one year.
Never had problems with registry, system, performance, etc...
7 is running smooth, works like an charm after AU registry repair, registry compact, junk clean etc...
AU is far more advanced, than freeware you mention. That means more advanced throught registry scan, deep scan, more errors in registry.
From my experience, AU is PC friendly software, no matter what you do with it, it want mess up your system like some other registry cleaners.
Answer to your questions is YES, AU is compactible with 7 and safe.
Regards

Re: Is the AU registry cleaner compatable with Windows 7
Different registry cleaning programs employ different scanning algorithms/logic and hence differ in their opinion about the validity of an key/entry/data/value. For safety reasons, Ace Utilities employ a set of 'ignore-lists' so that our users don't accidentally remove entries which *may* cause errors later. We also have periodically added new entries to this ignore-list as per the feedback from our users. So it's pretty much safe. Make sure that the version you downloaded/installed is recommended for a particular Windows version. If, at any point, you want to undo the changes made by the cleaning process, just use the 'Restore' tool to put the deleted entries back in its place.
