Just added one to my desktop - user licence is a bonus! First registry scan has thrown up page after page to clean up. This seems a little counter intuitive on a new computer but I guess it should all be removed. Do Dell really leave all these entries behind when setting up a machine?
Is there a rule of thumb for the time to keep back ups before deleting?

It's common to get invalid entries even after a fresh install of Windows XP. As for the backups, keep 'em for a month if you are suspicious about the deleted entries.
