*******COOKIE ISSUES...REVISITED. 5.9 BETA

I've attached 3 pics as follows:

Pic 1: Since there is no REMOVE ALL COOKIES button, I highlighted ALL the cookies I want removed (which is ALL of them).
I click REMOVE and column 2 is cleared and boxes in left column are unchecked...or are they!?????

Pic 2: I click on 'Delete Unchecked Cookies'....nothing!
I then click 'Refresh' button and then again 'Delete Unchecked Cookies'...nothing!
So, I click on 'OK' and then re-open 'Cookies' and low and behold...you guessed it, Cookies reappear! WHY!?
So I remove them all again as I did before...leaving unchecked boxes in the left column because they just wont go away!

Pic 3: I then proceed to 'Erase History', I reboot, and yep, this pic shows how the 'Cookies' feature continues to NOT work!

Questions and concerns:

1. WHY do I want to leave it up to the software to determine what cookies to keep and which to get rid of with the (not so)'Smart-Exclude Cookies' button? There needs to be a 'Remove All' one click, ZZZZIP, they're gone button.

2. It saves cookies to things I DON'T VISIT OR HAVE ACCOUNTS FOR!!! Case in point Linkedin and Facebook...to name but 2.

Who's actually in charge here, the subscriber to the software or the software itself!? It's the tail wagging the dog!

When I have visited computer tech sites in the past they would advise me that 'Ace Utilities' was Malware, adware or spyware...whatever you want to call it! I told them that didn't make sense, why would I be paying for a program that is any of the above!?!?
But with this whole 'Cookies' mess that this in fact IS some kind of 'ware'! At the very least Acelogix is in bed with Google/ other programs. Why else would they make a program that can't/wont get rid of their cookies AND why wasn't this tested out prior to me writing about it here!?
Might be time to ask for a refund!

Bugs can happen is software, and that does not mean it has spyware.
We will check the issue and fix it as soon as possible.
Also if user has not closed the web browser, Ace Utilities might not be able to delete the cookies.
2. It saves cookies to things I DON'T VISIT OR HAVE ACCOUNTS FOR!!! Case in point Linkedin and Facebook...to name but 2.
Ace Utilities does not save any cookies; it just saves a name of that site. Actual cookies are saved by browsers.

Also please let me know your main browser. Is it Internet Explorer?
Also, are you using the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox?

I use Chrome (mostly) or Firefox.

I still don't understand why 'the NAMES' of cookies are being saved if not the cookies themselves.

Why are we letting the software decide what cookies to save or delete? If I want to delete them all I should be able to...simply!
Simply, meaning a one button push and not highlighting or checking or un-checking every time I use the program.

I understand bugs happen in software. What I DON'T understand is why it wasn't detected in the versions prior to the current 5.9 BETA.

Thank you.

We made some internal changes in version 5.8.

We can add another button to 'delete all cookies' in the next update.
Most users do not want to delete All cookies as they will have to enter passwords again.
So we try to not delete important/frequently used cookies.

BTW, are you still using 5.9 beta? We released 5.9.275 a week ago.

I am using the latest version as I check for updates frequently.

In this day and age if folks dont use a program like RoboForm to easily remember and insert your passwords then it is THEY who are the minority and should be inconvenienced and NOT the masses.

FYI- browsers are irrelevant since I use your program as the last thing before closing down my computer. Browsers are closed.

Hi,

We tried to simulate the issue here. So far every thing worked as expected.

Can you please send us the 'configuration' file for Ace Utilities?

To save the current configurations to a file:
1) Open Ace Utilities and go to 'Menu' > 'Settings' > 'Export Preferences...'.
2) Show a location to save the file.
3) Post the file as an attachment here or email us at support@acelogix.com

When doing a 'check for updates' it says I have the latest version 5.9.0. So that is the version I'm running apparently.

I'm unable to attach your requested file here because when I attempt to upload it I get:

The extension reg is not allowed.

I will email it at the address provided.

Can you please download and install Ace Utilities from
http://acelogix.com/downloads/aceutils.exe
and see if the issue persists?

Did the download, still says 5.9.0.

No difference in performance.

Not that it should matter but I'm using XP.
