Hi,
uninstalled the Runtimes dlls, installed 3.1 and low and behold the sidebyside errors are back
i was led to believe this was now fixed, but seems the runtimes are still needed.

The runtime DLLs should not be uninstalled. It is used by many other programs as well. Please let me know if there is any reason for uninstalling it.

no other program requires it on my sys, i only installed it because it was posted here for version 3 to stop the sidebyside errors. Just a shame its still needed as it conflicts with Quicktimes update program.

Please take a look at the below link
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923014
May be the apps you have do not use VS2005 to develop it, or may be their installers install it silently.
We will check to see if there is anyway to avoid installing it. We will check the Quicktime issue as well.

Please reinstall from
http://www.acelogix.com/downloads/au.exe .
Uninstall vc_redist, and check if this works.

Thanks Hari,
Will try it sometime soon, Runtimes dont cause a problem but i noticed that they dont uninstall too cleanly !! (leaves files, dlls etc behind, i hate that) I just restored my sys and everything is running well, so dont want to tempt fate at this given time as i have a heavy workload this week.
Perhaps anyone without the riuntimes installed could test this, it would be appreciated lots.
Over my head--But!

I am over my head here to understand all this but found this read interesting and pointing to more reading ..
Is this post relative to anything here?

Col, the latest version does not need the runtime dlls, so go ahead and install it without the runtime.
Jazz, nice to hear from you, it's been a while

Yes, yesterday. There is no difference in the exe, just a small modification in thex setup program.

Uninstalled runtimes, installed updated Ace Utilities, not a single error to report. Sidebyside errors all gone.
Thanks again Hari.

OOps hold that !!!
although Ace Utilites runs fine without the Runtimes, i discovered that my
recently installed SN**IT Screen Capture program started causing sidebyside errors afterwards !! I can only assume that when i installed my screen capture program, it already found the runtimes on my system (installed previously with the sidebyside fix), or microsofts runtime uninstaller removed them to !!
I guess reinstalling my SN**IT Screen Capture will fix it. After all it was put on here way after the MS runtimes.
So be careful, or better still, install the fixed AU on a clean System.
