Cookie Manager problem with IE7/XP Pro SP3, AU V5.1.0-32bit

So cookie manager deletes all my coookies whether they are marked safe or not. Also, cookies marked as safe from earlier versions of AU cannot be unmarked at all. Anyone else experiencing this?

Hi,
There is an issue with cookie manager when used to handle internet explorer cookies - the 'protected' ones also get deleted. We'll fix it.

Hi,
Is there a way to step back to version 5.0 until this cookie issue is fixed? I don't have the installer for 5.0 anymore - can I download it somewhere?

Hi,
We're working on the 'cookie-fix' at the moment.

It still deletes all my cookies whether they are checked or not. Sorry.

Hi Aneesh,
I think the problem may have been the link you provided. I installed the fixed/update and checked the version # and it is "AU Version: 5.1.0.465 (2998992)" This is same version and build as the original V5.1 that had the cookie problem. So basically I just ended up installing the same version that had the problem.
Thanks.

Even though the version displayed in the updated version is the same as that of the previous one, the build is new. We just kept the old version number itself. We're checking the issue again. It seems IE8 cookies are not affected.

Cookie manager is working properly on both my Vista x64 and Vista x86 systems with IE8 as the only installed browser.

Thank you siliconman01 for that observation. It seems more related to IE7. We're on it.

Hi Aneesh,
I think I figured out a fix on the user end. What I did was reinstall AU v5.0. The I unchecked all the cookies in the cookie list and let the Cookie Manager delete all my cookies. Then I installed V5.1 and surfed a few websites. Then I went to Cookie Manager and checked off the cookies I wanted to keep. This time, cookie Manager only deleted the unchecked cookies. The protected cookies were kept!
The odd thing is this: if I check say ".nytimes.com" it automatically checks all the "sub-coookies" that go with it (in this case ".wt.o.nytimes.com"). But when I delete cookies, only the cookie I actually checked is kept. But if I check the sub-cookie first, then it will keep both.
Either way, it seems the cookie functionality remains so it's all good.
Thanks for all your help!

Good to know that, dewey. Some times cookie handling can be a tricky affair.

I'm having that problem too. I am running 64bit Ace Utilities on Vista64, and wouldn't like to do all that work to have Cookie Manager work properly.
