The 'Google desktop search' has its own cache folder. Once Google DS indexes an entry, it gets added onto the google database on your computer typically to 'drivename:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Google Desktop Search'. This means even if you successfully delete your web history via Ace Utilities, a cached-copy remains in Google DS folder. To delete such an indexed item, you have to go to the Google DS interface and remove the entry through it.

interesting. would it be possible for an option to be added to ace to erase this file? then the next time ds was used it would simply create a new database?

I didn't find an option to delete the file in the control options. I guess maybe deleting the physical file is the easiest way. do you know what the filename is called?

Oddly, Google desktop search indexing folder may not be located at the logical place where you would expect it to be; like the path I gave in the previous post. It can pop up in any drive irrespective of the drive partition in which you've installed the program. Anyway, please search for the folder named 'Google Desktop Data' and inside this folder (or a sub-folder inside this folder) you will find the indexed data. There will be a bunch of files and, possibly, folders inside.

You can clear the contents of this folder from Ace Utilities; not through 'Erase History' tool though. Instead, you can do this with 'Remove Junk Files' tool.

* Options -> Junk File Remover -> Include
* Add the 'Google Desktop Data' folder path.

So, everytime you scan for junk files, all the files and folders inside your Google DS index folder will also be listed and subsequently can be deleted. You may have to temporarily quit the Google Desktop Search to clear the index.

We'll consider adding an option to clear this 'cache' in one of the upcoming versions of Ace Utilities and System Tuneup.
