I've been having a problem with my network connected HP printer/scanner/fax machine lately.
The 'HP Scan' software was unable to launch because it couldn't detect my device.
After some investigation, I found that Ace Utilities was the culprit..
It had deleted a string value called "NetworkDeviceID", which belongs under this reg. key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{6bdd1fc6-810f-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f}\0000\DeviceData]
After restoring the string value with its correct value data, and rebooting my computer, HP Scan is working again.
Any idea as to why Ace Utilities would delete this string value?

Re: HP Scan problem
We apologize for replying so late.
We'll check why that entry was 'caught' during the scan. Mean while, you can add this entry to the 'ignore list'.
Run 'Clean System Registry' and let it list the entry in question. Right-click on this entry and choose 'Highlighted item(s) > Ignore always (never find again)' option.

Re: HP Scan problem
Here it is in .reg format (asterisks represents values that will be different on other computers of course):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{6bdd1fc6-810f-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f}\0000\DeviceData]
"NetworkDeviceID"="\\hostname:*********\\ipaddr:***.***.*.***\\guid:\\macaddr:************\\port:*"
