Greetings Hari et al

I like the name "Ace Utilities" for theis program..It has me wondering how the name came to be ..
Of course Ace is the name of the high card in a deck of cards.
(spades,hearts,diamonds or clubs)

Ace can also refer to the sucessfull pilot of a WW1 fighting plane from which the term "Ace" has come to be synonomous with excellence in many fields..

One can "Ace" a test;Meaning to get all the answers correct..

I wonder if there is an alliterative meaning, from the sub-continent, that I am not aware of..
Mainly wondering how "Ace Utilities" came to be so named..

Could there be some way of relating the icon ,used for Ace
to the name..

This seems like a very mundane topic yet I believe a "relative" history might increase its coniviality and findability..

Oh that's a lot to ask of an icon I guess..

Just curious

Hey Jazz, as usual you always SET the tone of things! I like the word you used "Icon" to describe Ace Utilities. Although, I don't know how Ace Utilities got it's name, but I think that the satisfied users and myself included would agree that a "relative" history might increase its Hospitality, Welcome, Warmth, Friendliness, Cordiality, and Find-ability quite valuable to say the least!

An "Icon" is (1) an image, picture, or representation, (2) it is a sign or likeness that stands for an object by signifying or representing it, or by analogy, as in semiotics-The study of signs, (3) in computers an icon is a symbol on the monitor used to signify a command, (4) by extension, icon is also used, particularly in modern popular culture, in the general sense of symbol — example: a name, face, picture or even a person readily recognized as having some well-known significance or embodying certain qualities.

Nothing particular. We did not start AU thinking it would become popular, so the name was not something I thought was important. It was the name of a small tweaking tool I had created while learning programming.
Also, I wanted its name to start with 'A', as some download sites listed the names in alphabetical order.

Good Idea "H"

Good thinking on starting Ace with an "A" to put it near the top of searches..

The guy who made the phenomonal(1 of a kind) Windows 9x Registry protection batch program called;"Testrun(by Berniebuilt)-Out of Austrailia- Has a brilliant strategy for placing his software and his Dog-kennel products on top of searches..It might be enlightening to drop him an email about it..He's a great guy who seems to appreciate questions from the public..

jazzbodepew, sorry mate, but I've had to remove your link as the site contains spyware and a few enforcements (continuous attempts to get you to install something, though your original answer was clearly stated "No") I apologise for the inconvenience this might course.
