Elimination of a few steps to streamline operation
Elimination of a few steps to streamline operation
As a faithful user of AU I have a few suggestions. A few of my past suggestions have been used in this fantastic little program,so here go's. From time to time I use the "automatic" feature for starting the various operations and find it very convienent. MOST OF THE TIME,however,I use the Wizard. My suggestion is to eliminate the window that say's "Maintenence Wizard Run". I really don't see where it is needed because the selections of what you want it to do are already on the previous screen and THAT very screen could have the button(and warning) to START the wizard, why go into another screen? Also, having selected the operations for the wizard which remain the same unless changed, why not include a selection under the "Options" to ALSO have the Wizard run AUTOMATICALLY just by pushing the "Wizard" button. Just one other thing, why not ALSO have the "Erase Your History" run automatically (if NOT using the Wizard) when THAT button is pushed, again,INSTEAD of going into the next screen for a "start" button, this could ALSO be a selectable option. These are just a few ideas that I think would streamline the use of the program even further.
This is simply the finest program of it's kind and anyone writing in who knocks it for some stupid reason should'nt be using a computer. It's just THAT simple!!
Thanks, RADIOGUY

History Button Shortcut
Hi Hari....et al
My idea is to have the "Erase Your History" START AS SOON AS THE BUTTON on the first page is pushed, just like the other 3 do. Now, when you hit the History button you automatically go to the NEXT PAGE and THEN hit "start". You could leave the existing start button where it is,after all, the other options already have a second way to start them under "Action."(if you want to use it) but this would allow a start of each cleaning operation from the same page. Don't get me wrong PLEASE.. I'm not worried about wearing out my right index finger or the left mouse button it just seems like a logical way to do it (to me at least) Also, while I'm on a roll, it would probably be easier for SOME people to understand if the "Reset All Options" button simply read "Default Options". I'm glad you are going to use my first idea concerning the "Wizard" button,as I use it a lot. Maybe these other ideas will also make it! I'm just a lazy guy and whenever I run across something that can operate better or easier,my mind go's bonker's. Maybe that's why they keep me around at work!
Thanks! Radioguy

The only thing that I see that's wrong with the suggestion about the "Erase Your History" starting to clean once a user clicks on it--- is that their choice to make any last minute changes/adjustments is eliminated or taken away. And I really don’t think that would be a wise idea, since sometimes before running the History Eraser a user may want to change a setting!
I know I do, for an example: Sometimes I want to clear my “Prefetch Folder” and then sometimes I don’t, so if I don’t get a chance to check this option to see how it’s set (And I can't always remember either, nor do I always remember to uncheck the option after running the History Eraser) and make that change, then this can slow Windows down the next time it starts! Sometimes I think we can apply “Over-Kill” when trying to make things easier. But keep the ideas’ coming that’s what makes for a better Ace Utilities.

Hi Cal
I never change those settings, that's why I suggested that, most of the time I use the Wizard anyway.
