Registry TuneUp
Hello,
I noticed that in the, "about window" of Registry TuneUp that it says Copyright 2002. I was wondering if the program will be updated any time soon or was 2002 the last time? I really like the product and tested SEVERAL others to see how they would do. Some returned way too many results and others did just the opposite. Yours seems to be a good balance of cleaning without damaging the registry (I have Windows XP SP 2). I really want to purchase the product I was just checking to make sure it's still being updated and developed.
Thanks a Lot!

Ace Utilities is always evolving--- if you checked out the last release date of the app at it's home page it was 9/2004 and the last “Beta release” with new features was a month ago. Also, if you purchase Ace Utilities you get "RegCompactor" FREE and ALL future updates and upgrades are FREE!!!

Almost There!
Hi Cal,
Thanks for the information! I really don't need the whole Ace Utilities package, not now anyway, just a great registry cleaner. I saw that the last update to Ace Utilities was 9/2004 but there is no mention of the history of the other Ace products like Registry TuneUp. I checked the forums and didn't see any betas for the separate applications such as Registry TuneUp or RegCompactor so there's the dilemma! I'm sure I'll end up purchasing the product, the support seems great and I like the forums. The idea that you get updates for life is a very rare thing these days so I can tell it's a great company! Anyway, if you find out the answer in more depth I'd really appreciate it! Thanks for all your help and have a great weekend!

Registry Tune-Up has the very same registry scanner that Ace Utilities does and whenever the registry scanner in Ace Utilities is updated so is Registry Tune-Up's. I guess as quiet as its kept, its an "Understood" thing. Maybe the author will consider giving "Registry Tune-Up" it's updated release info separately too. I don't understand how the statement by Cal on Dec 03, 2004 3:35 pm can be true. He said:
"Registry Tune-Up has the very same registry scanner that Ace Utilities does ....... "
The Registry Tune-Up has a somewhat different "Look and feel" than the Ace Utilities version and they DO NOT perform the same. The Registry Tune-Up consistantly finds less entries (about 7%) than Ace Utilities!
Would someone please tell me what the REAL STORY is ??
I too am ready to purchase the Registry Tune-Up but only wish it was a "performer" like the one included in Ace Utilities.

I re-ran the same comparison on another computer using your Registry TuneUp Ver 1.3.0.150 and Ace Utilities Ver 2.4.2. Both were set to Advanced Mode & Thorough Mode with all references to Floppy and CD Drives turned off. All 18 of the "options to scan" were checked.
Registry TuneUp found 242 problems.
Ace Utilities found 262 problems.
About an 8% difference.
How can these be using the same Scan Engine with such different results?
Please advise.

I'm sorry - I wasn't clear. Let me restate it: I re-ran the same comparison on another computer with BOTH versions of your program on the SAME computer.
The first test (Computer A) running both programs - about 7% difference.
The second test (Computer B) running both programs - about 8%.
Cal, try it on your own computer - the results will not be the same.
Please explain.

hi wilberger,
Cal is right, Registry Tune-Up has the very same registry scanner that Ace Utilities does .......
but, there is some difference in the ignore-list contents. That is, AU's and RT's ignorelists are somewhat different.
Don't worry, we will update RT in one month and make it similar to AU.
