Released AU 3.0 installation

Hari,

I've noticed some minor omissions in new AU installer...

1. You're using an uninstall icon for the installer itself.
2. During installation, installer should erase unins000.exe and unins000.dat leftovers from previous install. These two innosetup files are useless now.

...MSI installers are very big, and they take forever to load up, the point is you are trading off a huge installer for a certification. MSI installers are not that big, in fact I have created many installations smaller than 100 - 150K. Many third party MSI generators (eg Installshield), bundle all...

Hari, I think that IF you really want to switch installer, you should consider MSI instead both INNO and NSIS. I admit that I do prefer a script based engine, but MSI is "the standard" at least to get the "designed for Windows logo" or simply being accepted by corporations. According to this , futur...

Hari,
Everything is OK with the new beta.
hari wrote:So do you like VS2005 ? Except for the slow Intellisense, I like it.
I never been a big fan of VS although MS C/C++ was always my primary development tool. However this new version is absolutely marvelous.

Hmm that's weird, I don't get this error message.

XP Pro SP2

Btw I also have .NET 2.0 and vs2005 installed. I suspect that's why AU run here, without any errors.
Hari, have you switched off the /clr option in VC++? It looks that vs2005 emits MSIL into unmanaged executables.

Hari,
I tried new beta and everything looks fine, except the word "dummy" which displayed in status bar when mouse cursor is over user icon in "Autostart manager" or search icon in "Uninstall Manager".

Small display glitch

1. In "Auto-start Manager" window, user listbox has slightly different background color (gray) than the rest toolbar. Same happens with toolbar search editbox in "Uninstall Manager". 2. The icons next to these two controls, display "CTRL-S" in a mouse hover tooltip. I think that this shortcut has no...

Will add that before release. I am thinking of Ctrl+S -> Scan F5 -> Refresh Del - >Highlighted delete Shift+Del -> Delete all marked Ctrl+U -> Uninstall/Update Ctrl+O -> Options (Alt+F4 -> Exit) Why two delete commands? IMHO only one DEL function is safe: "Delete marked". Unless of course you mean ...

Just a few observations on RC... 1. No more sortcut keys (CTRL-1, 2 etc) in AU windows. 2. In " Delete files permanently ..." window, ESC key doesn't exit. 3. After installing release candidate over previous beta, option " Enable Recycle Bin context menu " resets to enabled. Besides that one, all ot...

Hari,
please consider an option to disable this recycle bin menu extension. It is nice feature but as an option (IMHO) :)

Beta installer found VC runtime libs (MFC71.dll, Msvcr71.dll) in use. Same with wipe.dll, wipext.dll etc. I suppose the last ones are used by AU shell extension. Any idea how to install it without first uninstall previous build and loose all settings ? I hope final installer will replace files in us...
